How I would prepare for covering the upcoming election

By: Madison Maronde To prepare for covering the upcoming election. I would start by looking up the issues that will be voted on. I would see if the mayor was up for re-election, or other trending topics such as police reform were being voted on. I would also include in my article places and times people can vote. I think it would be beneficial as well to include a link of how people can register to vote if they haven’t yet. To prepare for interviews at the polls, I would write questions asking about demographics of voters as well as if they have voted in the past. I would also ask if they have been waiting to vote for a while and possibly why they are choosing to vote. I would bring a camera to capture what the polls looked like and would utilize social media to update people on wait times, or to tweet updates on results of the election.

Interviewing Reflection

By: Madison Maronde The story, “Nearly a year after getting a prosthetic limb, a Willmar teen is doing what he loves — and mentoring others,” by KSTP Eyewitness News, did an incredible job portraying a teen with a prosthetic limb. Breaking news story reflection

By: Madison Maronde A breaking news story on NBC News is following the search for a 3-year-old boy who went missing Wednesday. The journalist, Phil Helsel, did a great job organizing the story, putting the most important information at the top. Helsel also organizes the series of events that occurred chronologically, describing when the boy went missing as well as when police began looking for him. In the article, there is a large picture of the missing little boy, as well as a description of him and a description of what he was wearing last, which is very important to include. Helsel also puts the information out clearly, emphasizing that the boy is probably taken, and many people are out looking for him. Another thing Helsel did well is adding a very impactful quote near the end of his story. I also would have done this. Helsel also attributes his information well. For example, the picture of the little boy is attributed as well as the police information.
