Interviewing Reflection
By: Madison Maronde
The story, “Nearly a year after getting a prosthetic limb, a Willmar teen is doing what he loves — and mentoring others,” by KSTP Eyewitness News, did an incredible job portraying a teen with a prosthetic limb. The story truly showed the character of Jed Anderson, a young farmer who lost his leg in a farming accident. The news outlet received meaningful answers from Jed about his journey with his accident. The story includes many impactful quotes from Jed’s interview that attest to his character. For example, in the beginning of the story, KSTP Eyewitness News includes, “Farming — I love it,” he smiles. “It’s putting a kid in a candy shop.” Adding this not only explains Jed’s hobbies, it hints at his positive character. The story includes many other valuable pieces of information about Jeb and his story, but closes with a quote from his Mother. Jebs' Mother says, "He's very passionate,” Jana says. “He's got a lust for life like no one I've ever seen, and he's all-around one of the best humans I know. I knew he was going to be OK." The story adding this quote, even though it was from an interview with Jeb’s family member, still provided a lot of insight about him and his story.
