A U.S. submarine collided with an unidentified object

 A U.S submarine collided with an unidentified object in the South China Sea on Saturday, according to an article by BBC.

Fifteen sailors were injured after the USS Connecticut submarine collided with a mystery object underwater. The submarine is now headed toward a U.S. territory in Guam according to an article by CNN.

The collision occurred amidst tensions between the U.S. and China following China sending aircrafts into Taiwan’s air force defense zone, according to an article by BBC.


The Connecticut was operating following an array of military force in the region by U.S. allies according to an article by CNN. These military forces include the UK, Japan, Australia, Canada and the Netherlands. 


Taiwan announced on Wednesday that China could invade Taiwan by 2025. There are currently U.S troops in Taiwan. U.S. troops have been there since 2018 and this relationship is guided by the Taiwan Defense Act according to an article by CNN.
